How it Works

Every project starts with an initial 10-15 minute phone call with your Spruce Home Coach. During this call, you’ll describe your situation and what you’re hoping your coach can help you accomplish. We’ll put together a cost estimate based on the scope of the project.

For larger projects, we may request a site visit prior to providing a cost estimate. This helps us provide the most accurate estimates possible.

After you approve the cost estimate, we’ll work with you to schedule the best day and time to start the project. On Day 1 of your project, here’s what you can expect:

Plan the approach

When your Spruce Home Coach arrives, she’ll ask to see the the space you’d like her to work with. You may share any other direction or ideas with her at this time. Then, feel free to leave her to her work while you put your feet up with a cup of coffee and a book. If you have not already completed a site visit, your coach will take some time to craft the best plan for the project. If your coach thinks any additional storage or shelving equipment is necessary, she’ll let you know.

Take everything out

Your coach will begin by taking everything out. Off the shelves, out of the boxes, wherever the stuff is, your coach wants to see it. As she takes the items out of their former homes, she’ll sort them into piles, like with like.
 
Note: If you have a larger project in a well-trafficked area of your home, its possible that it may take a day or two to clear the space up again. Some clients use this as an opportunity to go on that weekend getaway they’ve been meaning to do!

Identify keeps, donates, and sentiments

Here’s where you come in. Once everything is out and sorted, your coach will help you decide what items are still useful to you, what items may be donated, and what items you want to keep for sentimental reasons. She’ll offer guidance and recommendations, but the ultimate decision is up to you.

Put everything back

Once we know what needs to stay, your coach will start putting everything away in a neat, logical way that you’ll be able to maintain yourself going forward. She’ll use whatever boxes and storage equipment that are still in good condition first, before procuring any new gear. .

Take control of your new space!

Before we go, we’ll make sure to review the space with you. Your coach will identify where everything is and how its organized, so that the next time you need something you’ll know exactly where to find it. And as you bring new items into your home, you’ll know exactly where to put them.

With every project, we include complimentary disposal of small client-approved items.
